Dan,

Could this also be a prelude to the announcement of FAB 35 (which AMD has said would be built with a partner).

It would be interesting if the partner was IBM.

Gateway has full page ads "See what a gig feels like" in both today's New York Time and Chicago Tribune.

Two systems are listed: a 1GHZ Athlon and a 1.3GHZ Athlon.

Ads such as these are typically from Dell (and largely paid for by Intel co-op dollars).

If AMD is allocating advertising dollars to vendor ads as co-op money (instead of showing a train wreck followed by the AMD logo - argh!) I think it's a good move.

Dan

PS - looks like the "mainly or only Intel" strategy that Gateway seemed to be testing didn't pan out.
