the crowd strategy today would be to short any early rally and look for the market to once again tank into the weekend, with the "crowd" looking for that to happen, there may be an opportunity for a long play on the dip, if the bond yields keep rising, the downside would be limited, if naz refuses to break below 1800 area, look for confirmation in semi's to firm up to lead to a surprise friday green day, the crowd may be right, but im looking to go long today if bond yields keep rising, which would be an indicator of money leaving bonds and looking for stocks

Thanks Rande; I figgered there was more to the bottom line of his going public 5 months after he tipped off the institutionals. Your assessment adds balance.

Good post Rande on telecoms. I agree completely.
Now when will the rest of the market? gg Seriously though, get in ahead of the "discovery" that low PE stocks like VZ, SBC, WCOM, FON and T are going to end up literally OWNING the info superhighway around the world. And VZ for one seems almost recession-proof. Haven't even lowered guidance but re-iterated it the other day and announced INCREASED cap expenditure. And let's face it, this is a buyer's market now. Hmm, could VZ buy LU? Or do they already "own" them by giving them the big contract?

Today's prices looking juicy, probably the right time to buy into the negativity in techs, like many Fridays recently the best prices were when people were nervous and capitulating before a weekend. Trying to get some EMC and ERICY at a little lower prices. Everyone's nervous about next week but usually when that happens the drop gets priced in ahead of time. So we could be in for a nice big surprise pop. "Don't fight the trend" and this has been the trend lately. Big pops out of the gloom and dom. EMC bounced 8 points last rally and might do it again. Meanwhile telcos have been holding pretty strong except for one day last week.

Re: Everyone will want a broadband connection:
I have broadband and Yes - it's great, but there are some problems -- It must stay ON all the time - otherwise it loses it's settings - plus it puts me at risk of a power surge after an outage. It's also a greater risk re: hackers, so I have to use a Firewall. When the power goes out, my whole system is down. That's why I use a backup system: A laptop with a POTS internet connection. Even without power, that will work (if my battery is charged). (I get nervous if I can't trade on-line.)
