What about ISDN? I don't think I know many people that use analog modems today - they've all got replaced with 64kbps or 128kbps Euro-ISDN. Both ISPs and telcos prefer ISDN to analog modems, because the all-digital ISDN prevents connection problems. Some ISPs don't even support analog modems any more - they just say "buy ISDN or go somewhere else" if you ask for support on analog modems.

Please note that my numbers where not 60% geographically last year. It was 60% of the population. I know that USA is not as densely populated, but you should have some big city areas where DSL should be widely deployed?

Btw.: I can tell you that it's nice to download with 105kbyte/sec. at home.
