he also was a fatalist,for all his spiritualism,he was certain on his death that he was finito/kaput/non-conscious nothingness.At least that was his public pronouncement.
One of the most eye-popping things i ever read i read as a teen-ager.It was an article by Einstein in which he stated that his driving ambition to make a fame making world shaking theory was because he was a coward,he had such fear of death that he somehow believed that" well if i am world famous than maybe i can't be doomed to extinction after all".
He reasoned that since his driving ambition was founded on fear of death he was therefore a coward.
I remember that article vividly to this day,it made me look at things in a different way(and fit well with my atheistic philosophy i had at that present time).max p.s. in spite of that i now no longer myself am a fatalist but that is just a trivial footnote,i assure you:)
