Could you quote a number on royalties for the

- GSM airinterface??
- CDMA airinterface??

(in terms of QCOMM they are not that active in
producing networks anyway, yes?? expect as an operator, no??)

as well as how the 40x capacity project is going for Q.
(5%,10%,20% completed??)

No prudent investor would like mix up different things, yes??

Maurice. CAREFUL!!!!! plagerism is illegal. Whenever you use the term "euroserf" or "Euroserf" you must be carefuy to give credit to that illustrious thread mate that first identified that particular European mental & economic handicap of always thinking like serfs. I sugggest an acknowledgment something like this (* the word euroserf was first used in the year of our lord 2000 to descripe a peculiar pattern of thought and economic behavior prevalent among Europeans that leads them to place childlike faith in the infallibility if their political and economic leaders. Earlier in the century Hitler used a partichlarly strong case of this mental derangement to induce the German people to follow him into WW II.).

Maurice: I will reply fully later, as the last few days have not exactly been the best I have had with many things going wrong (including a losing a family member yesterday) and so haven't had the chance to reply - however a quick rebuke here.

Firstly there is one name and that is mine. I will not include actual peoples names but will include spokespeople from virtually all the main switching manufacturers (includes Nokia, Ericsson and Motorola). To prove a point answer this, why was there so much "smoke and mirrors" as someone once put it over the whole evolution to 3G. The laughable responses to simple slides shown at telecom events that shows easy overlay of cdma (IS-95) on GSM (at event here in London in 1998 organised by Telecommunications International, Horizon House) - it could only have been aimed at less informed financial markets.

Yes, maybe as I wrote (implied), it was jealousy. You don't vcome in as upstarts and start kicking collective butt! Manufacturers and service providers have been around a darn longer time than Qcom. All it did was put peoples noses out of joint, including several editorial staff over here who were then happy to keep to the party line and put Qcom down (there was one exception, but when I found out where he ws getting his info from -rememebr who I called "rent a quote", I helped to enlighten him). Why did you think Qcom got a lot of negative publicity? It surely wasn't because they conducted themselves in a manner that befits the image you would like to think is potrayed.

"Rent a quote" used to post on the Qcom threads and then suddenly stopped, wandered why? (I wrapped several peoples knuckles that he was hyping the technology but to what gain on these threads - considering they are financially biased?).

As for the hand that feeds you, if you are relying on Qcom to support you financially in the future then I would have thought it is the Qcom people who should stop digging at he very companies and market that will eventually make Qcom fly.

I will stand by the statement of GSM still dominating in 5 years, although a lot depends on what DoCOMo does in the next 2.

GSMHell? Come on, I have been using a digital GSM mobile service for nearly 9 years now and have yet to be in a country that hasn't got it. Nowadays, I don't know anyone who hasn't got a GSM phone.

Hey, I have always enjoyed discussions on these threads. With the quality of many posters (including your eloquence) has provided me often with a different view point for which to all I am very grateful.

All for now, but as to other replies on the Qcom thread - I have printed them off and will probably write PMs back to individuals a time lag will be to great from original postings.
