You give the global warming acolytes too much credit calling it a theory. That implies there is some science behind it.

after all this "Global Warming" is just a theory,
The ignorance of science found in these threads simply astounds me. Global Warming is a statement of effect. It may or may not be happening but there is no way that it could be called a theory. A theory is an explanation which may be right or wrong but is never a statement about the state of a system (which may be confirmed or not). How dare you attempt to critisize or even offer an opinion upon science when you are so ignorant of what it is.

Saying that Global Warming is "just a theory" is not as damning as you probably wish it was. The Theory of Relativity can be and has been regularly proven in the laboratory. Scientific and political "theory" are used all the time to explain events. That all events do not conform to the theory does not in any way negate its validity.

The only dissenters from the validity of global warming theory nowadays are those that have an economic stake in doing nothing about it--the mining and oil industries. Their attitude is analogous to that of the tobacco industry to the "theory" of tobacco as a cause of cancer. All they did for many years was cast doubt..."the scientific evidence is not conclusive"...yada, yada, yada. And just like tobacco, the only scientists casting doubt on the "theory" are hacks who are funded by the industries with a vested interest in the outcome.

The only difference is that now mining and oil have Bush in their pocket, which is like putting tobacco companies in charge of health care.
