The consensus here on the thread is that the Nikkei just went through an end of fiscal year paint job of colossal proportions. The good news is that they pulled it off in enough to keep most of the banks solvent. They did this through massive government involvement in the market and the bad news is that everyone "knows" this, which means that in the long term there is even less faith in the ability of the Japanese market to thrive without life support.
