Karen, are you seriously trying to now argue the position that a person might not be able to obtain legitimate information he/she needs via the internet with filtering software? And because of that someone might get killed? Put another way, child filtering software is a potential killer?

The degree of information on the internet is so vast, so large, so deep, I find that particular line of reasoning seriously flawed.

There is a compelling reason. I'll give you one off the top of my head. If a parent limits their children from going to the library because of fear of porn being shown to them. Then it would be a travesty. A child which might be learning how to use the resources of the library to further their educational process, will be prevented from doing so.

That scenario duplicated thousands of times, is far more likely to have happen then the one you describe.

The compelling reason the government started funding internet connections in libraries across the nation. Was to allow school age children to do research to further their education and knowledge. And now, we've turned this wonderful tool over to the porn industry, for absolutely NO compelling reason.
