The government should not have a surplus. Their surplus is the public's deficit.

First you should define what a safety zone of debt is. If you have a dollar whose return of value is diminishing then you want to pay down debt. The reverse is also true one that increases in value allows more debt to be comfortably held. When you are where we are and inflation has been creeping across the nation there is the question of over evaluation.

We have seen a massive amount of debt taken on by the private sector and without a tax cut, this economy is in long term trouble.

Tax cuts as long range vehicles enable more free dollars to go back into the economy. The people end of the private sector has taken on too much debt and there by strapped themselves and limited the ability of growth in our economy. This is short term because human nature moves to extremes before it finds balance. We are of earth so we too are in constant search for balance from extremes.

As far as education goes, often the best funded turns out to be the least effective. We need to get off this govt. fix.

You have to have an education base that is for all. You can't eliminate the basics of a public system from elementary school on up. Doing so would be the greatest injustice you could possibly do to our nation. It is within the public system that children learn not just the format that can seed the quest for knowledge but fraternize as with others from all walks of life as well.
If i go to upper levels of education it has been my experience that some of the best students are those who go through the system via public junior college. Fortunately the fees in this area are affordable to enable those with a true desire to learn to do so. As far as some of the ivy leagues go there are many kids placed there due to financial ability of the parents and that is about it the drive for self to do is not always there. The wonderful thing about the is that the wealth affect trickles down and frequently those that come from the lower end of society benefit because of scholarships given out.
If your aim is to dismantle the education system you have created a new party because none i know of have this desire.
