I fully expect howls of protest when I post this. .

You can count on me, Greg. I protest. While your post wasn't more than four paragraphs, they were long, dense paragraphs. <g>

And I needn't protest much since I've made it clear where I stand on the matter...

Basing it on the historicity of Adam, though. Wow. That's going to be convincing... and to me adding that Paul and indeed Jesus believed it doesn't exactly strengthen the argument for basing your worldview on their beliefs... <g>

(I can't wait to see Solon's response... or indeed Neocon's. <vbg>)

Frankly I would have a problem with it to, if it were not so clearly taught in the Bible.

The fact that something is taught in the Bible is a weak argument for me. I basically accept Christian belief but not as a given or even as a very strong belief. If you ranked some of my beliefs that might be relevant to this discussion from strongest to weakest you might see something like.

1 - The belief that there are non-relative moral truths.
2 - The belief that certain things are wrong or that people have rights that should not be violated and that in at least some cases these rights are true even if individuals or governments or societies believe them not to be. (or in other words belief in specific non-relative moral truths)
3 - Belief in God
4 - A theistic rather then deistic image or belief about God
5 - Belief in Christianity
6 - Belief in ideas supported only by biblical, exegetical arguments.
