When I was a child we had a large garden and I enjoyed the taste of the freshly picked veggies.

I have a small veggie garden and like to grow unusual plants. Usually, I have three or four kinds of hot chili peppers including habernero and Thai types ( hotter than heck!!). Tri-colored pole beans ( green, purple, yellow ), and a range of fresh spices with a couple of tomato plants.....pretty simple stuff.

The best eggplant I have ever had was in an Italian restaurant on the wharf in Monterey,Ca. It had been saute'd in olive oil with a combo of spices. Someday I'll go back and try to figure out which spices they used.

Every year I make sweet and sour red bell pepper strips. They are absolutely delicious and you can't buy them anywhere. We have to can them ourselves but it's worth all the effort. We give them away at Christmas and they're so good we have a list of people who request them! It's fun to cook when there are people around who enjoy what you make.
Cooking for my 15 year old son is not fun at all! LOL
