Mike, Yeah, technical snap back with a Dell chaser. I'm obviously betting that this one won't have legs and the daily warnings roster will keep the bounce under control.

Re: "it will take more than dell news to believe the bottom is in."

As we transition from earnings warning season to earnings season, the lion's share of the bad news on earnings should be out already. With reg FD, seems like most of the companies with bad news should have already warned.

Of course, AMAT could be one of the exceptions, since its quarter ends a month later than everyone else.

"One scenario is bad employment numbers tomorrow followed by intermeeting rate cut."

I can't understand the media fixation with rate cuts. The cuts so far have not affected the market downtrend much. It seems to me that what we should really be hoping for is improved employment figures, and improved economic data in general. In order for the bear market to end, the downward trend of corporate earnings has to end, and in order for that to happen, the downward trend of the economy, and thus the parade of bad news, has to end.
