SEVEN paragraphs...maybe eight. Do you have a fever?!! I think the difference between imposing values and sanctioning values (up to and including the use of force) is a fairly clear and decisive differentiation. If the person or group of persons is asking for help, clearly there is an opportunity to confirm and validate ones moral beliefs. One must be certain, however, that the intervention is wanted, and that the root of the intervention involves issues of safety. Imposing values is always wrong. Defending values is always right. If we help someone who does not want to be helped, we are violating their autonomy--which is really the issue, after all... Whether or how one helps is another issue--an issue which would involve the practical consideration of laws, risks, power, etc...
