An editorial in the recent Business Week says that we have only had two investment cycles like this in the last 100 years -- the 1920s in the US and the 1980s in Japan. People who know nothing about bubbles (no names), think they happen all the time. They don't. Do I think there will be a recession? Only if we chase the technology stocks down, and down. If we find something useful to do, like save, spend wisely and invest in some stocks with real fundamentals, I think we will be well out of this by this time next year. But if we chase stupid tech stocks and don't save, we are just going to go into a hole so deep that nobody will be able to get us out of it for 5 years. I would like to believe we are not collectively as stupid as some individuals seem to be, so I am "cautiously optimistic".
