V, Why is the Naz not tanking today? We still have Thursdays gains to give up. This could be a reason.

I checked the Janus fund cash levels as of Feb 28/2001.
The big fund sitting on about 20% cash. I bet they were not buying too much in March. Maybe they have more than enough to take into account the redemptions and will be sitting on cash. The big funds can move the markets in a big way especially when there is a large base of traders who are shor the Naz.

In addition, these funds appears to have shifted away from tech in past few months among that heavyweight fund company.
Fidelity is already light on tech.

So what does that mean? I would say that if the market holds up today or gains, it could be a sign that money is being put to use by buying. If the markets tank by day end, well then it is still a wait and see situation.

I don't believe it will be about earnings in the coming weeks.

(formerly t2--changed my name for a new bull market possibly)

Good Morning Voltaire; been some time since I posted on this thread; had to go to the 'dark side' when my charts told me to lighten up and get defensive.

When Dell announced their 'great good news' last week and indexes jumped, I had to short the rally. I remember well your teachings regarding news; that it doesn't matter what the news is, it matters only how the big players want to use the news to move the markets.

This AM same story WRT AMZN. "We are not going bankrupt, so load the boat". Going into big earnings announcements, starting tomorrow, I am wary of more attempts to push up the market, with bad numbers and poor forward guidance spun to be "good news".

I learned a great deal from you, and this knowledge has helped my trading immensely, and I wanted to let you know.
The QCOM run was awesome, and your calls were the best on a single stock I have seen in 4 years on SI.

Hope this note finds you in good spirits.
Thank you for all you have done here.
Regards,
James
