"The US is the example of democracy for the whole world"

Wrong, Wrong, Wrong.. We went into this over on the GSTRF thread with Maurice..

The US is NOT A DEMOCRACY.. A Democracy is a system of Government where it's elected officials are thrust into power via a mandate from the masses..

President's that are elected by a "selected group of individuals.. (Like housewife's from Santee, Ca that are in the Electoral College) is not a Democracy..

As many here know.. My wife is from Colombia.. She watched in udder disbelief as the Candidate with the MOST VOTES was not elected to lead this country..

Now, you can try and defend the Electoral College anyway you want to.. But, the fact remains.. The Candidate with the largest number of "One Man, One Ballot" votes is not our President..

If that were to happen in a Latin American country.. (Where a Democratic Election resulted in the Candidate with less than the highest quantity of votes) was thrust into power.. Our "Great Democracy" would have protested in vain.. Probably sent in Military troops to "Stabilize the situation" LOL!!

In the US... We just "try and justify the situation by saying".. Well, that's the way it is!!! LOL!!!

So sure they teach you in school, that the US is "The Template of Democracy".. And maybe it makes you feel nice and safe when you put your "Jammies" on when you slip into bed!!

But, in the end.. The US is not a Democracy!

Rajala, glad to know you finally admit it.

>All these years I have had a bad self esteem being only from Yurop.<

If there's ever been a coherent thought from you, this is it. And it's perfectly understandable. It's hard being a Third World refugee living in Europe, where nationality is such an important distinction, isn't it? We all know how welcoming the Brits and French can be to those from their former colonies, or how open the Germans are to granting Turks citizenship.
Bashing the U.S. makes for great sport, but chances are you'd still be living in a mud hut and swatting mosquitoes knee deep in a rice field if it weren't for American largesse at one level or another.
Maybe if you'd just listened to those Peace Corps volunteers who came to your quaint little village...but then, Rajala, we all know that listening is not one of your stronger traits, based upon your blatherings on this board.
