Don...hopefully I'm being objective here (given my holding some shorts)...but this gap up stuff is really funny/amazing...

I still believe some big boys play this game (buy futures) to light a fire under the market....It makes sense....they all know that traders look at technical levels...we are close to triggering some technical "buys".....it is a relatively low-cost execution (also, buying lots of 100 shares in pre-market on some key stocks).....that we here are at a make-or-break point (do we go up or down?)...of course, it does get one excited when the futures are up big in the morning ("here comes the rally!")...

But I just wonder....why aren't these folks buying more intra-day? We had the explosion on Thursday (which looked typical of the bear in the last year), and then gave back a lot Friday....and then yesterday's action (gap up...and then pffff), was similiar to weeks ago.....yesterday would have been a great day for follow-thru (if this were real)

I'm not saying that this strategy might not work....it might indeed light this fire.....just seems like someone's trying to light a match/get a spark thru the futures...I wonder why the market can't just rally hard intra-day (without morning gaps)..hmm....maybe today will be the day...
