wayne, gdp is a rigged number and doesn't relate to the us' past or to any other nation. they have been adding billions of monopoly money onto it to goose growth. folks see the us dollar as a safe haven right now. the fed knows this and is hell bent on leveraging every ounce of this mentality. i told a friend who played the bubble... "it works until it doesn't, then look out." i'd say the same to alan.com. just like my friend, he'll have to learn the hard way and we will all be worse off than if he had taken a conservative, prudent approach from the beginning.
