I have only read and viewed "The Exorcist", and never saw any sequels to it in the theater. I think the book is good, and the movie is, perhaps, great. I think it is probable that some version of the Fall occurred before the introduction of Man on this Earth, although I do not speculate much on how it would have been. But I do not think it likely that we were once a single creature, made diffuse and scattered through many incarnations. It is, though, a version of Teihard de Chardin's speculation that the material universe was evolving to the Omega point, where it would unite with Christ. I am ambivalent about Hell, but salvation cannot be automatic, and therefore evolutionary, or what is the point of choice? It is one thing to question whether any finite act merits eternal punishment, and another to think that we need not, at least, own up to the need of mercy before we can stand in the presence of God.
