"A year ago we never thought anybody"

Not to mention improper sentence structure.

Anyone else notice Dan W's misuse of economics terminology here?

Thank God he's not an economics professor trying to run a storage company.

Streaks...

Can't say I noticed that, but I have a difficult time with his comment "...never thought anybody would be concerned about cost of ownership" statement, as NetApp has historically positioned themselves as being a much lower cost alternative to EMC - i.e, companies have ALWAYS been concerned with cost of ownership.

Personally, I think he's giving us a warning.

I can tell you that, in the big company I work for, we've have no - that is to say ZERO capital (as opposed to lower cost "expense" items) - expenditures on computer equipment in 2001. Nada! The Sun and EMC reps are pulling their hair out. I received a call from our local NetApp dude asking if I knew anyone inside the company that I could put them in touch with (we're not an NetApp shop). Sadly, I couldn't help him.

I've been out of all stocks since February 23rd...I couldn't stand the pain anymore.

Good luck to all,

Steve
