Max: Remember the first copper TBird, which was demoed at 1.13GHz... demo speed is no indication of the chip's scalability. Were does your "12 months ago" come from? P4? Taking the latter of your questions first: ??? No, absolutely not! The Athlon reached 1GHz in March '00 (officially, anyway). That's well above the 900MHz AMD has been showing off its new, "capable-of-reaching-amazing-frequencies" Palomino at. The P4 has nothing to do with anything in this matter. On the former question: Exactly. The Tbird was demoed ABOVE its introductory frequency. The same can be said of most, if not all, of Intel's chips (2GHz P4 aircooled a year ago (IIRC!), anyone?). When AMD cannot even match current Athlon operating frequencies with hand-picked samples of its supposed-to-be-amazingly-fast core, that worries me. Shouldn't it? -fyo

Really fyodor, I don't know why you can't accept the fact that two 1533MHz Palominos were demoed and that the server chips are around 1GHz because of heat and power consumption issues... IOW server palomino are under mobile palomino specs. AMD confirmed that 760MP may not like the TBird because of it's high power dissipation, which back my point. I didn't see any desktop Palomino under 1.533GHz, only server and mobile. 1533 on GA-7DX at CeBit: tecchannel.de another one around nov 15 : Message 14805495
