Why spend on R&D ? Do you remember the cellphones from 5 years ago ? Do you think the cellphones in 2005 will pretty much be the same as they are today ? Now if we were spending that kind of R&D money on a pure commodity like toothpaste I would agree with you. What do you define as commodity. Are microprocessors commodities ? Why has Intel spent so much on their development and continues to do so ? btw I agree that the downtrend on the mot chart has yet to be reversed.
