I think he is still pissed about being passed over by the Bush administration. His name came up about two months ago in rumors but no offer. His latest actions is another nail in his coffin

There's no apology here. People who are saying that are dead wrong. In fact, the message contains a SLAM at the Chicoms.

...according to our information, our severely crippled aircraft made an emergency landing after following international emergency procedures. We are very sorry the entering of China's airspace and the landing did not have verbal clearance, but very pleased the crew landed safely.

To paraphrase, our stricken plane followed internationally accepted procedures but you, against international rules and common sense, failed to give them verbal clearance. Were sorry you acted so negligently. We're pleased (obviously) that our plane landed safely, DESPITE your poor behavior.

I say WAY TO GO MR. BUSH. You could not have done a better job in this case.
