re: where is the panic.

let see just off the top of my head, being down two on a stock that is trading at 16, would better then a 12% drop.

At best it's dead money. Let's hope my call of base between 10 and 17 is correct. I'm surprised storage is getting hit as much as it is given the line on how much need there is and will be. EMC and NTAP certainly have ended all talk about storage as being above the slow down. One has to wonder how both will fair being wounded given the increase in competition coming from all angles, and the most obvious fact they are all chasing a pie that has been shrunken near term. In thinking longer term, I would stay away from the end product manufactures because of the continuing march to make storage a commodity where the most efficient manufacturer wins, and go with the suppliers that provide something unique. Sure the software argument is valid, but the as time goes by, secondary players continue to move into the space to provide the PC vendors with the needed tools to compete. Time will work against the foot in the door argument too.
