No. Mind you, I've never owned a gun, never shot a gun except a bb gun at cub scout camp, and didn't care for it much. But the problem isn't with general gun ownership. It's a lot of other things, many cultural, but it isn't that. I'm not, never have been, never will be a member of the NRA or any other gun organization. But I respect the rights of law abiding citizens who want to use guns in a safe and proper manner to do so just as I expect them to respect my rights to do those things I enjoy doing in a safe and proper manner.Or maybe a nice legal case for actions against parents who own guns... potentially endangering the lives of other children? <sarcastic g> Don't know why the sarcastic grin. Certainly parents or others who make guns available to children -- who don't secure them properly -- should be held accountable. I have friends who own guns, and though I admit it makes me uncomfortable to go to their houses and see their guns there, in every case the guns are well secured and safe from abuse. If they weren't, then the owners definitely ought to be held accountable if their guns are misused. Just as it's legal to own a pit bull, but the owner must be accountable if it gets loose and injures someone. BTW, I'm quite happy for people to own their own guns. Kept in secure, regulated, licensed clubs, used for target shooting. Transported to other registered, licensed, regulated and inspected venues only, for competition or variety purposes, in secure, registered vehicles at times pre-arranged with police etc. Looks like we agree on some points, though I don't go as far as you do. I accept that they can keep the guns at home as long as they can create secure venues within their own home. Why would any non-homicidal person want a lethal weapon, designed purely to allow someone with minimal skill and knowledge to kill at range, in their home? I only know what they tell me, which you know as well as I do. No accounting for tastes. After all, by the same token, some people would ask why would any non-insane person keep a set of bagpipes in their home? Guess I'm the next one to be hauled off to the looney bin!
