That is NOT a problem... for a Droid with AthWipe envy.

Paul,

Seems to me the Athy will fill the gap between the Mhz of the P3 and P4 quite nicely. Something tells me that Intel will make deals on the P3 to maintan market share.
It will be hard for Intel to keep P3 prices high, IMHO...

Yeah, if you read the thread you are banned from
you'll see my displeasure with VIAs "beta" chipsets.
Pathetic, real pathetic. I can see why Intel builds their own. Almost as bad as the delays on the Palomino and Morgan notebook chips and the "somewhere out there in space" 760MP chipset.

RE:"A typical AMDroid response"

Ah, cut the bull,

RE:"Infrasrtucture costs - mempory, chip sets, MBs - will still give Pentium IIIs a distinct market segment."

Versus P4, yes, at least 'till a DDR/SDRAM chipset appears for the P4. Then again it's likely to be made in Taiwan.
Sound familiar?
OTOH, versus the Athlon, P3 doesn't enjoy your listed advantages as much as it used to.

My only point really was the MHz gap you can drive a truck through. Something we talked about a long time ago. But it seems it will widen even more the way P4 will scale.
Soon it will be 1.7 to 1.0. Then 2.0 to 1.0 unless Tualatin shows on the desktop sooner than I think.
