lifestyle, richard, lifestyle. let the calls through, richard.

>>A universal human temptation is to play down one's own faults and play up the faults of others. <<

doesn't make it right. ESPECIALLY when personal financial gain is at stake.

>>It's not justified on anyone's part, but I would sure like to see a little less hypocrisy about it.<<

very reasonable assessment.

>>I classify taking money off the table in January of 2000 as good and the QQQ trade as bad. Do you disagree?<<

yes. leaving 35% on the table was bad. the qqq was bad.

you know, richard, my experience is that the market is a humbling to experience to everyone if you stay around long enough. i don't fault bob for bad calls.

i do fault him for

1. gloating over others when the market moves his way (which is up!). this is MUCH MORE than highlighting one's positives. this is mean spirited. yes, he decides daily how to act. a serial killer is a killer even on those days he doesn't kill (extreme example to make a point clear).
2. being a hypocrite for attempting to hide his own faults in light of #1 above.

bob is great for bull markets. in fact, i understand that he didn't call any "gift horse" buying opportunities since 1/01 and that is pretty darn sharp considering all the opportunities (that turned out correct) he pointed out on the way up.

he just has trouble with bear markets and making trades with no exit plan for a substantial amount of his customer's portfolio.

i also have a fundamental issue with bob because he doesn't invest on company fundamentals. this is one main reason why the qqq socked him so hard - he didn't see the crash toward fair value coming.

i have resorted to using bob's own name calling tactics against him so he can see how it feels (i bet you don't like it - did you like it when he did it to others?). my hope is that he refrains from such insecure and childish behavior going forward - the point is made and so i will stop.

best of luck.
