LOL! "Longer the rally last the more lasting it will be."

Ah HA! Now we know who Dubya's speechwriter really is. And all this time I thought it was Yogi Berra.

That reminds me. With the weather like this, I have that song going through my head, "Put me in coach, I'm ready to play, today. Look at me, I can be, center field."
I'm going to go downstairs and dust off my mitt.

a key factoid on recent unemployment data

last week the unemployment rose for both the mfg sector and service sector
that sent a negative signal inside the deep recesses of my largely vacant mind

but temporary agencies are categorized under "service sector"
even if they are to work within the mfg community, which they largely do
so dont believe the recent data on declining labor picture for service

service is keeping this economy afloat
I watch such data closely

agreed the internet is really getting full scrutiny, with re-evaluation
Staples has reined back in its aggressive strategy
they are combining its internet business with their catalog business
catalog is primed by telephone ordering
now they share the same infrastructure

Borders Bookstore just abandoned internet biz
now they divert all such orders to Amazon
let Amazon lose the money, what dorks!

I see it all as evidence of healthy change
Business Week in February claimed that the internet efficiencies have little to offer to 90% of business systems
but for that 10% remaining, internet has huge productivity cost reduction potential
logistics still operates outside the domain of the internet

out of the ashes will emerge 15-20 fine dandy internet companies
some will offer supermarket envmts
some will offer whizbang supply chain SW
80-90% will offer excellent bankruptcy driven asset auctions

as for investors buying for this year or next
I tend to think they are buying mostly for next month
but talking about the 2nd Half Recovery, as in a mantra
later this summer, they will be seeking out their testicalia for a firm grab
this recession will come hard and fast and furious
