Admittedly, the signal to noise ratio is relatively low. But if you cut through the noise, he has added quite a bit qualitatively as well.

A lot of the stuff he's contributed has been of strong quality. Although argumentative and aggressive, he's had a tendency of being solidly right on issues pertaining to upcoming processors (you know, the K7 being a solid move, the P4's FCLK being seemingly useless, 3-cycle L1 latencies being easily hidable, etc, etc..), sometimes setting himself up for a position where he's the only person defending his eventually-shown-to-be-correct stance.

His intellectual contributions by far outweigh any attitude problems you might perceive. Well, except when he going prospecting in the Rambus thread and soforth, but everyone has got to have a hobby. <g>
