Jerome, I wouldn't defend Mr Forbes or his magazine's editorial stance. And the publisher's tech editorials are even worse, like from a high school student on drugs. But some articles and columnists are worth reading. The magazine's preoccupation with 'richest' lists annoys me no end. Other than that there's nothing wrong with it.

When Mr. Lam was interviewed for the article his business - and that's all he's talking about - may well have been going full bore. I hear laptops are selling and Lam's customers include many of the top brands.

Jerome and all, OT *** TD Waterhouse
I'm thinking of opening another account - with Waterhouse.
Looking over the web site and talking to a neighbor I think it will meet my need for an occasional trading account. If anybody has any objection, please speak now. <g>

I found the August 2000 issue of "S&P Outlook" there. Sad and funny - in hindsight, especially the 'weather proof' stocks. research.tdwaterhouse.com

Excerpt: The sectors we expect to do best over
the next six to 12 months are technology,
health care and energy. Among our
favorite issues are the financially strong
“weatherproof” stocks on pages 4-5.
[snip]

I guess health care and energy did pretty well. This report is a good reminder that respected institutions can be wildly wrong at ANY time.
