Well there you go! "I have seen it referred to in enough web articles to believe it." That settles it! After all what more evidence can you expect, than that? Thank you Solon. As usual, you have missed the point entirely, (WOW! there's a news flash for the thread). The issue is not whether or not someone wrote that story down at some point in the distant past. I think that has been stipulated. No what I am asking for (that I am not receiving) is a level playing field. Let's hold Buddhist scriptures to the same standard that is demanded for the Bible and then let's see how they fare. When that is done the Bible stands head and shoulders above all others. But let's ask these questions.... When did this event happen? When was this story written down? By whom was it written? How much time elapsed between the supposed event and the oldest, extant copy of the manuscript? Does it exhibit the characteristics of a historical narrative, or does it read like a mythological tale? Does the story contain references to historical Persons, or places, or events, that can verified to have existed or taken place? Are there any independent, non-Buddhist sources that might corroborate this story? Th Bible does not run and hide from these types of valid questions, why does Buddhism? It's obvious that Mars is not a man that will be confused by such trivial things as facts, historic or otherwise. But you Solon, you! Where are all the stories about Buddha in the garden with the naked boys? Where are all your mocking, and blasphemous accusations about Buddha? Could it be that you have a special place reserved, (in that cavernous abyss you call a heart), for the God of the Bible? Are your teeth hurting again? Solon, you are a hate monger. Your contempt for Christians, is manifest in every post that deals with the subject, and is exceeded only by your hatred for God Himself. No shallow or base argument is left unturned in your vain attempt to overturn the God of Heaven and earth. If you attempts were not so flaccid and feeble, they might be humorous.
