There's an interview in Barron's this week with Richard Russell that's actually worth reading, IMO.
He's a bear who makes two interesting points: the Dow transports have not participated in this decline, and the dollar remains firm amid the rubble in the markets.
He speaks a bit about overcapacity, and why Fed rate cuts won't rescue the economy. We need time, he says, for the weak players to go bankrupt so the strong can survive. He's recommending T-bills.
My question is this: As the recession deepens, and given the spike in fuel prices this spring, why in the heck are the transports acting like there's nothing going on?
