Intel Falls After Morgan Stanley Chip Call

Intel (INTC:Nasdaq - news) was down 4% in preopen Island trading after Morgan Stanley analyst Mark Edelstone cut his earnings estimates for this year and next.

Edelstone cut his outlook for the chipmaker to 45 cents per share from 60 cents for 2001 and to 60 cents from 80 cents for 2002.

He also downgraded chipmakers Lattice Semiconductor (LSCC:Nasdaq - news), Broadcom (BRCM:Nasdaq - news) and Xilinx (XLNX:Nasdaq - news) to outperform from strong buy.
