The operation of reason suffices in most spheres of life.

Oh, come on now. Surely you don't believe that?

The operation of reason does not suffice in:

Ejoying a sunset.
Love.
Understanding women.
Raising children.
Tasting tea (or, for those who imbibe, wine).

In all those, and MANY other areas, the operation of reason is vastly inadequate.

Reason is a fine tool for what it's good for. But as the old saw says, when all you have is a hammer, everything looks like a nail. But there are many things other than nails in life. And there are many, many matters for which the operation of reason is the wrong tool entirely.
