Some questions:

Were the NASDAQ earnings totaled using the market cap weightings of the index?

Have you done a similar calculation for the Nasdaq 100? If so, what was the result?

John, assigning a single PE to any index would make sense if all its companies merged into a conglomerate. Otherwise it's just an exercise - and an irrational one at that.
