>>What does that mean since the size of the economy is measured in dollars??<<

If you wanted to buy a German car the dollar to Deutschmark ratio, now dollar to Euro ratio, would matter very much.

What does that mean since the size of the economy is measured in dollars??

They measure it in straight dollars and they also measure it in chained constant dollars (real GDP). If you have a better solution maybe you should bring it up to AG. Maybe they could measure it in yak butter, as far as I know there has been little inflation in the price of yak butter.
