Carter got beaten by the economy. Mortgage rates were 16%, unemployment was 9%, and inflation was 10% when people voted. Also, I suspect that people with odd numbered plates who ran out of gas on an even numbered day voted for Ronnie.

The hostages were not released one day after the election. They were released as Reagan was sworn in. The motive was obvious: the Iranians were taunting Carter......
