I would think you could build a nice stone place out in the hills and raise a family quite nicely. Have sailed lake travis several times and had nice outings.

It took me a while living in a 1,000 sq ft house in Silicon Valley with a family of 5, to recognize that the quality of life is not determined by the size of your house.

Everyone in Texas lives in nice big houses, because it is too damn hot to go outside. People in California don't spend much time at home, because there is so much stuff to do, and the weather is nice all year round.
