Joe, <I am not sure about those numbers. Based on my calculation 800 MHz Duron consumes 24 Watts under typical, 27 Watts maximum.>

From the same spec sheets you linked to earlier, 800 MHz mobile Pentium III consumes 17.0W typical, 25.9W maximum. So if you compared clock-for-clock, a mobile Pentium III consumes less power than a voltage-starved Duron.

I don't know why you continue to call the 1 GHz mobile Pentium III "semi-mobile," since it is higher performance than Duron when the laptop is plugged-in, yet consumes much less power than Duron when the laptop is unplugged. Sure, Duron might perform a little better unplugged, but that won't matter if you don't have enough juice in your battery.

Perhaps you ought to wait until mobile Palomino is out in stores before going into your AMDroid mode again.

Joe - Re: "It looks like Intel has blown the lead in mobile"

What a stupid thing to say !!!

AMD has announced a couple of mobile DooWrong chips - but except for a few minor players, NOBODY has even shipped products with these chips !!

On the other hand, nearly EVERY notebook computer SOLD TODAY contains an Intel processor.

Get a grip on reality.
