edamo, i'm all for the power of positive thinking and a focus on self improvement. it is important. however, i'm also for reasonably and rationally assessing reality to the best of my abilities (sometimes right, sometimes wrong, always learning and assessing).

if the reality is bad, i do the best the best i can to make the best decision possible. i would not buy a 1 bedroom rambler in the bay area for $1.3 million based upon a "positive attitude."

so, it is a trade off imho.

i believe our job is to do the best we can with what we have, not try and figure out what we don't have. but, neglecting reality and making decisions based on a positive fantasy often leads to much pain thereby making reality worse. one must balance.
