Try as I might, cannot compute Dell May earnings as low as 17 cents.
Back-up one year to sales of 7.3 bil, earnings 19 cents, net 7.2%
1. Assume the worst, that despite a 34 % increase in shipments,. the extra 14,000 people produced no increase
in value of products shipped and revenues were flat.
Result Dell earns 19 cents. Beats by 2.
2. Assume Dell revenues increase about 31% with same margins, Dell earns 24.89 cents
To back that down to 17 cents, would require net margin to decrease from 7.2% to 4.89% while Dell is moving into higher markup areas?. Seems unlikely
Under-estimate and over-achieve, where have I heard that before?.
