i agree with much of your statement....but as things change they remain the same...in the 70's era, fast food stocks were on fire...why, because the dynamic of women returning to the work force provided little time for cooking....so as a stock comparative for every mcdonalds, there was a bonanza, ponderosa or sambo's......

no different then before, the strong survive, the franchise names go forward and the weak drop by the wayside...

your comment on consumers being the ultimate winner is encouraging, for it takes into account not just competition by economy of scale and efficiencies in production....as long as the consumer on balance wins, global economies will remain fairly stable...and us companies with global capabilities will prosper...
