American,

Do you remember Bob Dole on the tube, almost crying about the devastating impact which the 1993 Deficit Reduction Act would have on the economy? Begging Americans to call their Congressman. It was pathetic. But not quite as pathetic as Rush Limbaugh "guaranteeing" that the bill would lead to the worst recession in 50 years.

Not a single Republican voted for it, and it passed on Al Gore's tie-breaker vote in the Senate. The Republicans lied endlessly about who was being hit by the tax increases, and won the Congress in 1994.

And now they turn around and try to take credit for Clinton and the Dems sacrifice. What a bunch of slimeballs.
