If I personally, one time, log on to Napster and download "Rock Lobster" for my personal listening pleasure, how is that different from me borrowing my friend's B52's album and recording it onto tape? It sounds the same to me & based upon your selection, would give rise to 1 of the following scenarios: 1. Your personal taste in music sucks. 2. You are (or "your" again according to many SI posters) much younger than I am. 3. My personal taste in music sucks even more. I'm curious why you didn't use "Blue Oyster Cult", "Pearl Jam" or even Janis "Pearl" Joplin for your (you're) example? Respectfully yours, ;) Gary

Yes, technically some of your examples are stealing. But the difference is you are not taking your friend's B52 album home and copying it with 50 cassette recorders going 24/7. Taping a show or movie on a blank VHS to give to a friend is not stealing.. You have already paid for it.. Every blank tape has a small tax added to it and that money goes to TV shows, Feature films and a number of other places that off hand I can't remember. But I know it's there. I read about it in the 80's when these fears were brought up.. Your 2 cents is always welcome here. I wouldn't have axed the question if I didn't want it. Plus if I get enough people to give 2 cents I can make up most of my losses these past couple months...<ggg>
