Joe,

Hey! I didn't know SI allowed the use of <pre> </pre>. That certainly allows for a nicer formatting than having to use Fixed Font for the entire message. Thanks ;-)

Duron Athlon Laptop K6 Total
Units ASP Units ASP Units ASP Units ASP Units ASP
Q1 3.3M $48 3.2M $145 0.0M $0 0.8M $48 7.3M $90.5
Joe 3.9M $45 3.1M $130 0.3M $150 0.3M $45 7.3M $87.3
fyo 3.5M $40 3.0M $125 0.5M $200 0.0M $0 7.0M $87.9
Note: I think your Q1 Duron ASPs are on the low side and K6 ASPs correspondingly on the high side.

All of this depends on the marketing strategy of AMD. If they decide to make the Palomino "special" somehow (Athlon2/Pro/Ultra/+ whatever) and increase the shipments of regular Athlons from Austin, they could end up with a significantly higher Athlon ASP and a blended ASP slightly above Q1.

NOTE: I've edited my numbers slightly after posting (specifically the mobile K7 ASP)...

Regarding the AMD units/ASP "contest"

Hey, I'm not as webgodlike as Goutama or as savagely persistent as Maxwell, but I put together a quasi-database which can be used for this particular compilation

New entries can be added via
jc-news.com

and the whole thing can be browsed through
jc-news.com

(if you do use it, enter the units in millions, and don't enter any nonnumerical characters (like $ or M) into the number fields, as it meekly tries to sort everything numerically and gets confused easily).

I hope I'm being helpful here. I personally think that this might make the thing easier to track than making some poor sap copy and paste everything. ;)

PS: Windows 98 crapped out on me the first time I tried to send this. I hate this OS. :p

If my memory serves me right, Jerry said that total K6 revenues were under $30M which would indicate K6 ASP of about $37.

It is interesting that you see only a 600Ku pickup for Durons and that too at a lower ASP since Q2 is the first quarter that Duron has full infrastructure support.

Also, why are you forecasting only a 100Ku drop on Athlons? Do you not expect P4 to eat into Athlon market share in retail or do you expect corporate design wins to make up for the retail losses?
