fyo,

<Let's say that we believe the AMD management claim that they could sell every Athlon they could make in Q1. That implies that they could have sold more. Maybe this peak is enough to absorb most or all of the P4 grab. Then again, maybe not - my point is solely that I don't see the issue as simple / clear.>

That AMD sold all the Athlons it could sell is a joke that keeps perpetuating every quarter - especially when it is clear that Fab25 is nowhere near full utilization and that AMD is holding considerable amount of inventories. It might be a little bit more believable if one says Athlon output from Dresden is "sold out" but even there if AMD wants to ramp Dresden fast because there is strong demand, the semiconductor equipment guys will be happy to oblige.

<Yes, but not cheaper than Athlon + integrated graphics chipset with a good margin. Sure, there is a price difference, but it's minimal and likely outweighed by better branding and faster operating frequencies.>

I see a significant cost delta between Athlon and Duron solutions at any given speed grade so I am not sure what you define as "minimal" and I am not sure where this discussion is headed - if the argument is that Athlon-Duron delta is not as large as PIII-Celeron delta, I agree. If not, may be you can shed some light on what kind of difference in pricing you expect to see between Athlon and Duron and the reason why it should be significantly more than it is today.
