The incremental cost of going with Athlon over Duron is really quite minimal. Additionally, the incremental cost of extra MHz (once you pay the slight Athlon premium) is even lower than for the Duron!

Is this just an observation, or do you see this as a problem? I don't see it as a problem, actually, it is an excellent strategy compared to the alternative of downbinning processors (thus devaluing the MHz advantage vs. P6).

The price/MHz curve is pretty flat in the 800MHz-1.33GHz range AMD sells. So, what? Why is that bad? I am baffled as to the point you are trying to make.
