Mike
I think that the key is that the demand hasn't changed, just the ability of the different types of SPs to build out their networks. It seems that the analysts have translated what is happening in business cycles into a bleak outlook for all of telecom for the foreseeable future. I don't hold this same view.

Here are my views on the last mile from an investment viewpoint with a little bit of cursory analysis as to why we are where we are right now.

Re.. "It's just amazing to me these SAME firms valued telecom equipment startups in the BILLIONS of dollars. Yet one year and a couple of months later, you can hardly give them away. What happened to all their projections?"

Analysts are poster boys to solicit business. They're not predictors of the market or stocks, their JOB is to attract customers to the brokerage.. nothing else.

So its not out of step for them to always be adjusting their targets after the fact so that they always appear to have been correct in their call... analysts are just another form of brokerage advertising. Thin on truth, big on promise.
