I don't understand the big deal about a bit of a pushout of release date.
It would be negative but not that big of a deal.

Seen lots of product launch delays in the past.

Only a buying opportunity, IMHO.
Those that were shorting on this news are probably getting ready to cover OR those traders that sold probably getting ready to buy back their shares.

As we know from years past, these delays don't usually mean much....for this company.

Actually, CNBC is reporting that Rick Sherlund is telling clients that XP may be pushed back to January 2002, which would certainly be bad news if true. Given MSFT's history of late deliveries of major releases, these sort of rumors will undoubtedly persist until XP is out. I doubt if MSFT has made any final decisions on the matter yet, so the rumor-mongers will have a free hand here.
