Daschle was one of 18 Democratic senators in October 2000 who voted to give the Environmental Protection Agency more time to implement a new rule on arsenic in drinking water.

Tom Daschle has recently said, "Under FDR all we had to fear was fear itself. Now, we have to fear arsenic in our drinking water." And he has condemned the Bush arsenic action as "an outrageous and indefensible decision."

Mike, I would suggest that a lot of America has reached an outstanding level of cultural tolerance and understanding. The media always dwells on the problem areas. I have no doubt that there are some locations of ignorance but I also think that intolerance in America is based on the poverty of spirit that goes with being poor and uneducated. I see and deal with American of all backgrounds and I see friendship. But the policies of the democrat party are founded on the principles of victims and class warfare. The taking heads find confrontation news worthy. So while decent folks are in charge I see things improving even more.

Look at the recent Cincinatti race baiting by some black leaders. All the talk of the 15 blacks killed. In the same time period 300 blacks were killed by blacks. But the politics of victims breeds hate and envy and anger and calls that a police force that is 27% black is racist.

As long as there are areas where schools are a joke and victimology is the main subject taught by the community leaders, those so educated will never be able to understand and enjoy the pride of being an American. They will be vacant minds conned by emotions.

Dear Michael: Yes, I too am disturbed over the CLASS WARFARE the Democratic Party seems to exhibit in an effort to try and win votes from what they must perceive as the UNWASHED MASSES!! Its really a shame, America is supposed to be the land of Opportunity where a person regardless of race, creed or color, family background or anything else has the OPPORTUNITY BUT NOT THE RIGHT to become ANYTHING they wish to become by hard work and diligence. The Dems seem to try and convince people they have the RIGHT to have anything they want WITHOUT exerting themselves. That IMHO is detrimental to a healthy thriving Nation. JDN
